Session 71

PCs (lvl 14): Èiraden, Ganelon, Hela, Kat

The party fights the mind-flayers and their controlled thralls, until the creatures stop fighting, and propose to parley. The aberrations guide the party to their leader, a sick elder brain. The elder brain is being harassed by a "psychic scream" only he can hear. The interference is slowly killing him, when all he wants is to use his powers to leave this place. He proposes a deal to the party: if they eliminate the cause of this distress, he will free all the enthralled miners, and will abandon the mines. The PCs accept, and they make their way deeper into the mines.

In the lower levels of the mines the PCs meet a weird creature made of multiple eyes and mouths. Kat connects with its mind, but she's soon attacked psionically, and she's forced to retreat from the beast's mind. Having come to the realization that the creature is a threat, the PCs destroy it from a distance.

Further ahead they find a wounded mind-flayer, also fallen victim to the psionic distress. The creature manages to gather enough strength to share some info with the party about the epicenter of the psionic interference.
